Don’t Miss the Weekly Email

Each Thursday (and sometimes Friday!), I send out a weekly email newsletter to our church family - and if you’re not getting it, I’d love to encourage you to sign up.

The weekly bulletin is a great snapshot of what’s happening on Sunday, but the email newsletter is where I’m able to share much more. It’s a place for church news and updates, prayer points, photos from the week, upcoming events, and ministry plans - but also a place to share things that are shaping our thinking as Christians in the world.

For example, from time to time I include articles or briefings on important social and ethical issues - things that are relevant for Christians to understand and pray about, but that we don’t always have time to explore fully in sermons or on Sundays. At the moment I’ve been reading about issues like voluntary assisted dying, surrogacy, and fertility legislation, and in next week’s email I’ll be sharing some helpful links from the Sydney Anglican Issues Committee on those topics.

I also often include “sermon extras” - good material that didn’t make it into Sunday’s sermon but is still worth reflecting on - as well as links to useful articles, the weekly prayer, ministry updates, and practical information like term planners for youth and children’s ministries.

In other words, the weekly email isn’t just a notice sheet. It’s designed to be something encouraging and edifying, with useful things to read, pray through, and return to during the week.

And just because you come to church doesn’t necessarily mean you’re on the mailing list! If you haven’t signed up yet, or if you haven’t seen the email in a while, now is a good time to check. About 40% of people open the weekly email each week, which means many others may be missing it - sometimes because it’s ended up in a junk folder, or because mail filters have quietly moved it elsewhere. The emails come from me, David Fell, so if you sign up, keep an eye out and make sure it doesn’t get marked as spam or junk.

Yes, the email is often a bit longer - but that’s intentional. It’s not meant to be something you glance at for ten seconds and delete. It’s meant to be something worthwhile: a helpful collection of updates, encouragements, prayers, and resources for the week ahead.

You can sign up here: SIGN UP TO THE WEEKLY EMAIL

I’d love more of our church family to be receiving it regularly - and, even better, reading it regularly!

Warmly,

David

Acknowledgement Of Country

Gymea Anglican Church acknowledges the triune God, the Creator of heaven and earth and His ownership of all things (Psalm 24:1). We recognise that He gave stewardship of these lands upon which we meet to the First Nations Peoples of this country (Acts 11:26). In His sovereignty, He has allowed other people groups to migrate to these shores. We acknowledge the cultures of our First Nations Peoples and are thankful for the community that we share together now. We pay our respects to Dharawal speaking people who are the traditional custodians of the area now called Gymea, and their elders leaders, both past and present, and those who are rising up to become leaders. We pay our respect to all First Nations People and pray for God’s blessing on all Australians as we seek reconciliation and justice.
