About the event

When the Music Fades, What Remains?

This Sunday at Gymea Anglican Church, we’re asking one of life’s biggest questions: What actually lasts?

We live in a world full of noise, movement, and distraction. We fill our days with work, entertainment, success, experiences, and achievements. But every now and then, the noise quietens—and the question surfaces: What is all this for?

That’s the question Ecclesiastes 12 presses home with clarity, honesty, and surprising hope.

A Special Sunday

This Sunday is also a Bring a Friend Service, and we’re delighted to be joined by Angela Brun, an Australian opera singer, along with her son George, a chorister at St Andrew’s Cathedral. Together, they’ll help us reflect on beauty, creativity, and the fleeting nature of life through music - reminding us that while performances end and voices fade, meaning does not have to.

Acknowledgement Of Country

Gymea Anglican Church acknowledges the triune God, the Creator of heaven and earth and His ownership of all things (Psalm 24:1). We recognise that He gave stewardship of these lands upon which we meet to the First Nations Peoples of this country (Acts 11:26). In His sovereignty, He has allowed other people groups to migrate to these shores. We acknowledge the cultures of our First Nations Peoples and are thankful for the community that we share together now. We pay our respects to Dharawal speaking people who are the traditional custodians of the area now called Gymea, and their elders leaders, both past and present, and those who are rising up to become leaders. We pay our respect to all First Nations People and pray for God’s blessing on all Australians as we seek reconciliation and justice.
