The Search For Meaning - A January Sermon Series from Ecclesiastes

1.png

Starting Sunday, December 28 at Gymea Anglican Church

This January, we’re opening the Bible to Ecclesiastes — an honest, searching book that meets people exactly where they are. Tired. Busy. Successful, yet still restless. Wondering why life can feel so full and yet strangely empty.

Ecclesiastes doesn’t offer shallow optimism or easy answers. Instead, it tells the truth about life under the sun — and then gently points us beyond it, to the God who gives meaning, joy, and hope that lasts.

Whether you’re a long-time Christian, someone exploring faith, or simply wondering if there’s more to life than the next thing, this series is for you.

Dec 28 – Is This All There Is?
Ecclesiastes 1:1–11

Jan 4 – Wisdom, Pleasure, and Success Can’t Save You
Ecclesiastes 2:1–11, 17–23

Jan 11 – A Time for Everything
Ecclesiastes 3:1–15

Jan 18 – What Makes Life Worth Living?
Ecclesiastes 9:7–10; 11:7–10

Jan 25 – Remember Your Creator (Australia Day Weekend)
Ecclesiastes 12:1–14

Special Invitation – Bring-a-Friend Sunday (10am)

On Sunday 25 January (Australia Day long weekend), we’re hosting a special Bring-a-Friend Guest Service at 10am, featuring beautiful music from opera singer Angela Brun, with singing by her 11-year-old son, George. It’s a wonderful Sunday to invite friends, neighbours, and family to experience church in a warm, welcoming way.

This January, come and see. Come and ask the big questions. Come and discover the wisdom that leads to life.

Gymea Anglican Church — loving Jesus, loving each other, and loving Gymea.

Acknowledgement Of Country

Gymea Anglican Church acknowledges the triune God, the Creator of heaven and earth and His ownership of all things (Psalm 24:1). We recognise that He gave stewardship of these lands upon which we meet to the First Nations Peoples of this country (Acts 11:26). In His sovereignty, He has allowed other people groups to migrate to these shores. We acknowledge the cultures of our First Nations Peoples and are thankful for the community that we share together now. We pay our respects to Dharawal speaking people who are the traditional custodians of the area now called Gymea, and their elders leaders, both past and present, and those who are rising up to become leaders. We pay our respect to all First Nations People and pray for God’s blessing on all Australians as we seek reconciliation and justice.
