Youth Update from Scott

Hello BTX parents!

We’re all set and excited to kick off Term 3 of BTX Youth at Gymea! 🙌

We’re launching the term with a Winter Wonderland Night this Friday—get ready for a fun night full of snow-themed games, wintery vibes, and a great start to a new term together.

This term at BTX, we’ll be diving into the book of James, looking at what real faith in action looks like. It's practical, punchy, and super relevant for our youth. Term Planners will be available on Friday night.

📖 New This Term: Youth Bible Study

We’re starting a new Youth Bible Study on Sundays from 3:30–4:30pm, kicking off this term.

It’s a space for anyone in Years 7–12 who wants to:

  • Go deeper into God’s Word

  • Ask questions

  • Pray with and for each other

  • Spend time with friends around the Bible (and food!)

No cost, no registration—just come along. We’ll be meeting in Thompson Hall (the “granny flat” out the back of church). After Bible study, youth are also welcome to stay on for our 5pm church service, which includes dinner afterward. We'd love to see them there!

📬 New Weekly Email Updates

This term, I’ll be sending out a weekly email with key info and updates—perfect for staying in the loop without scrolling through a long WhatsApp thread!

If you’re already in the church system, you’ll be added to the email list. If not, I’ll reach out to check if you’d like to receive it.

💧 Confirmation & Baptism

Confirmation and Baptism classes will begin on Tuesday 12th August for anyone in Year 10 and above who’s interested in exploring these important next steps in the Christian faith.

Classes will run for 6 weeks on Tuesday nights, and the service will be held on Sunday 28th September.

This isn’t just for youth—anyone of any age is welcome to join the class.

So if you (or someone you know) are interested, let me know and I’ll be in touch with the details.

Thanks so much for all your support in getting your kids along to youth! It's a real joy to partner with you in helping them grow in faith and community. As always, if you have any questions—or if there’s any way I can support your family—please feel free to get in touch 😊

God bless,

Scott

Acknowledgement Of Country

Gymea Anglican Church acknowledges the triune God, the Creator of heaven and earth and His ownership of all things (Psalm 24:1). We recognise that He gave stewardship of these lands upon which we meet to the First Nations Peoples of this country (Acts 11:26). In His sovereignty, He has allowed other people groups to migrate to these shores. We acknowledge the cultures of our First Nations Peoples and are thankful for the community that we share together now. We pay our respects to Dharawal speaking people who are the traditional custodians of the area now called Gymea, and their elders leaders, both past and present, and those who are rising up to become leaders. We pay our respect to all First Nations People and pray for God’s blessing on all Australians as we seek reconciliation and justice.
