About the event
It's exciting to. have Dr. Bonamy preach for us this weekend.
Psalm 92 says “The righteous will flourish like a palm tree, they will grow like a cedar of Lebanon; planted in the house of the Lord, they will flourish in the courts of our God. They will still bear fruit in old age, they will stay fresh and green, proclaiming, “The Lord is upright; he is my Rock, and there is no wickedness in him.” Dr. Bonamy flourishes in these ways. What accounts for this flourishing? Surely, it is, in part, a result of living a godly or righteous life. Those who walk in God’s ways live more meaningful and effective lives. But Psalm 92 adds another reason for long-lived fruitfulness: “They are planted in the house of the Lord … to declare that the Lord is upright; he is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in him” (v15). The house of the Lord – the ministry of the temple with all its holy articles, priests, and sacrifices, the Old Testament dwelling place built for God’s name and glory – pictures and anticipates the wonderful sacrificial person and work of Jesus on the cross. Being rooted and established in him by God’s grace through faith, we produce fruit that glorifies God and honours his name. May we learn from Dr. Bonamy’s good example. May we be faithful men and women of the church. May we love the church. May we be devoted to the “house of the Lord”. May we love Jesus, love each other and love Gymea, flourishing in fruitful ministry even into our old age!
