Scam Alert
We’ve been made aware of a scam email currently circulating that falsely claims to be from our Senior Minister, David Fell.
The email typically says: “Greetings, I hope you are doing very well. Please let me know if you are available today.” It is signed “David Fell, Senior Minister”, but the sender is using a Gmail address - not a genuine @ gymeaanglican.org.au email address.
If you reply, the sender may ask you to discreetly purchase gift cards or send money for someone supposedly suffering from cancer. This is a scam.
Please note:
-
David’s email account has not been accessed or compromised.
-
The scammer is simply impersonating his name using a different email address.
If you receive one of these emails:
-
Do not reply.
-
Do not send money or gift cards.
-
Delete the email immediately.
-
If you have already responded, cease corresponding with the sender.
If you are ever unsure whether a message from church staff is genuine, please contact the church office directly through official channels.
