Scam Alert

We’ve been made aware of a scam email currently circulating that falsely claims to be from our Senior Minister, David Fell.

The email typically says: “Greetings, I hope you are doing very well. Please let me know if you are available today.” It is signed “David Fell, Senior Minister”, but the sender is using a Gmail address - not a genuine @ gymeaanglican.org.au email address.

If you reply, the sender may ask you to discreetly purchase gift cards or send money for someone supposedly suffering from cancer. This is a scam.

Please note:

  • David’s email account has not been accessed or compromised.

  • The scammer is simply impersonating his name using a different email address.

If you receive one of these emails:

  • Do not reply.

  • Do not send money or gift cards.

  • Delete the email immediately.

  • If you have already responded, cease corresponding with the sender.

If you are ever unsure whether a message from church staff is genuine, please contact the church office directly through official channels.

Acknowledgement Of Country

Gymea Anglican Church acknowledges the triune God, the Creator of heaven and earth and His ownership of all things (Psalm 24:1). We recognise that He gave stewardship of these lands upon which we meet to the First Nations Peoples of this country (Acts 11:26). In His sovereignty, He has allowed other people groups to migrate to these shores. We acknowledge the cultures of our First Nations Peoples and are thankful for the community that we share together now. We pay our respects to Dharawal speaking people who are the traditional custodians of the area now called Gymea, and their elders leaders, both past and present, and those who are rising up to become leaders. We pay our respect to all First Nations People and pray for God’s blessing on all Australians as we seek reconciliation and justice.
